PROTECT ROCKY REGION FROM BESS
Your voice is critical as we face growing pressure from large-scale energy developments that threaten our land, rural areas and our way of life.
Who are we
A community-led group of locals, farmers and families committed to protecting our region from poorly placed battery energy storage systems (BESS). We advocate for sensible planning, safety and the protection of rural lifestyles, livelihoods and the environment.
Submissions Open - Egan's Hill BESS
Public Notification is now open for a proposed 900MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Egan’s Hill on the Corner of R Pierce Road and the Burnett Highway, Gracemere.
The development would include over 100 containerised lithium-ion battery units, covering approximately 15 hectares.
Community members are encouraged to review the proposal and make a formal submission detailing their concerns.
Now is the time to have your say. Click here for more details.
Submission are open from 30 June – 21 July 2025.

A BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) is a large facility that stores electricity using industrial scale lithium batteries – usually inside shipping container-style units.
These systems support the power grid, but raise serious concerns about fire risk, toxic smoke, and the impact on rural communities.
These high risk developments are part of a broader government push towards renewable energy – but outdated planning frameworks mean many BESS projects are slipping through with minimal oversight, and without proper community consultation or rigorous risk assessment.
